[For the CD and for the CD-based show I Got A Republican Up My Ass]
I like your songs.
- Nina Simone (Jazz artist extraordinaire)
-Cornel West (Prominent Black scholar)
-Robert McChesney (Author-Rich Media, Poor Democracy)
-Jim Hightower (Populist Troublemaker)
-Bernard Weiner (Editor - The Crisis Papers)
-Harvey Reid (International Troubador)
-Papa John Kolstad (Father of Music)
Eskits new album is a hilarious antidote to current despair. His song Hail To The Thief should be a progressive classic! Eskit is an accomplished pianist and a delightful storyteller.
-Lydia Howell, producer of Catalyst, KFAI, Minneapolis
The record sounds like the soundtrack to a musical, but at this point free thinkers across the country should be willing to take what they can get.
-Michael Henningsen, Alibi weekly, Albuquerque, New Mexico
Thanks for the performance! I could hear the mayor laughing
. Your energy isastounding
.
-Margaret Vaillancourt (Friend of Eskit)
I saw the show. See it! My fave number is Lets Put Congress On The Minimum Wage. There was a 4-year old in the audience who waited the WHOLE show to see Eskit in the chicken suit.
-Susu Jeffreys, Poet and Activist, Minneapolis
One of the more talked-about shows at the summers Fringe Festival was titled
I Got A Republican Up My Ass.
-Dominic Papatola, Theater Critic, St. Paul Pioneer Press
Its a scary thought, but go with me: What if peppy political songster Mark Russell had a bastard love child with wacky radio host Dr. Demento? They probably would conceive a guy like Eskit, our host for this political cabaret. A throwback who actually ran for President in 1976, Eskit fits the mold of a bad-haired, 70s-era comedian (think George Carlin and Gallagher, only weirder). His clever piano ditties include God Bless The Guns and Send A Dollar To The Lord In Care Of Me
. His character Potty-Mouth Chicken, a fuzzy-suited bird who yells expletives at Republican politicians, is just plain bizarre.
-Carolyn Petrie, Minneapolis Star Tribune
What a voice.
-Susan Stamberg (Former host of All Things Considered)
Eskits songs remind me of Bertholt Brecht.
- Larry Long (Environmentalist/Musician)
Eskit is a combination of George Carlin and Tom Lehrer.
-Bill Hinckley (Folksinger / Activist)
Indulgent
. Time-wasting crap
. And Im better looking.
-A lawyer
