CONTROVERSY 101: RAUNCH AND BLASPHEMY
COMMENTARY
This is really three albums in one, with three categories:
a) raunch b) political blasphemy c) religious blasphemy. And while
raunch is fairly identifiable, blasphemy is totally in the eye of
the beholder. I'm fairly certain that right-wing fundamentalists
will find most of the material offensive, whereas rational curmudgeons
might be less disposed to palpitations.
Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately),
there are very few subjects that can arouse a proper snit. Two of
these subjects are race and religion, and so I have endeavored to
introduce a sampling of each, on the off chance that I can provide
something to offend everyone. (I'm assuming that sex and four-letter-words
have lost the power to shock - or even raise an eyebrow).
For the lowdown on the lowdown songs, I refer you
to the SONG LIST (click on the link at the top of this page). Pedestrian
songs that are fully explained by the title are designated with
a “Yep”. And I am proud to thank the following for their
contributions:
Becca Leathers – Voice: Songbird
Freddie Gotfredson – CD Design & Webmaster
KT Simon – Cover Photo
Marilyn Hand – Voice: Obama?
Matthew Zimmermann – Percussion (including the bongos on #12)
& Sound Engineer
